They were visited by the Bishop of Tewkesbury, John Went, Baroness Jan Royall, the Deputy Mayor of Coleford, and representatives of the Diocese of Gloucester, who came together before the massed pupils to cut a ribbon and formally change the status of the former school to an Academy.
Officially the school changed status on September 1. The head teacher of the new Academy, Jan Wagstaff, also reported that there had been 'many' previous chairs of the governors present to commemorate the new status of their school.
