REGGAE music and Monty Python formed part of the soundtrack to the funeral of Gerry Nott, held at the Forest of Dean crematorium on Tuesday.

With standing room only, and an overflowing car park, around a hundred mourners gathered to pay their respects to Mr Nott, 66, who died at his Broadwell home four weeks ago.

His coffin, topped off with his trademark baseball cap, entered the crematorium to the strains of his signature tune, Baby Don't Worry, and the service concluded with Monty Python's Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life.

The service was conducted by Gill Fortescue, Civil Celebrant.

Afterwards, the mourners gathered for a buffet reception, held at the Crown Inn, Coalway.

Mr Nott's body was discovered in his Queensway home on Sunday October 26, following which Amanda Howard, 46, of Edinburgh Place, Broadwell, was arrested and charged with the murder of the retired landscape gardener.

She appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court for a preliminary hearing, and is due to face trial in Bristol on April 21 next year.

Widespread tributes have been paid to Mr Nott, with over 100 postings on social media from friends and relatives of the man described by his daughter as having "a heart of gold."
