COLEFORD's Great Western Railway Museum will be steaming up its vintage Peckett loco for the town Carnival of Transport on Easter Bank Holiday Monday (April 13).

The museum will also be opening its doors from midday onward and the 1936 Peckett industrial shunting locomotive is its centrepiece.

The 0-4-0 saddle tank loco spent 40 years shunting at power stations in Shropshire and Worcestershire and has been at the museum since 1987.

Recently restored to working order, the loco is regularly steamed on special occasions – and this year sees the museum's 21st anniversary.

The Museum's 7.25-inch miniature railway, a great hit with younger visitors, will also be in operation. For details phone Mike Rees on Dean 832032.
