A CLASSIC 1929 model Ford car which was stolen from a lay-by has been found abandoned outside an agricultural business near Ross-on-Wye.
The vehicle and trailer it was on were taken overnight on Sunday, March 18, after being parked up off of the A449 Ross to Ledbury Road when the owner felt it was unsafe to continue towing home from an event.
When he returned next morning, he was shocked to find it missing and reported the theft to police, who asked people to be on the look out for the vintage motor.
It was found three days later in the early hours of Thursday morning, March 22, on the trailer in the Phocle Green Business Park area.
A Ross-on-Wye Neighbourhood Watch (NW) spokesman said: “It would appear that the sharing of the original post by the followers of this and the Ledbury NHW Facebook pages made it too hot to handle and get it out of the area without being seen.
“Our sincere thanks and congratulations go out to all of our neighbours and followers in the Ross, Ledbury and surrounding areas for helping to get this message spread far and wide.”
Anyone with information about the incident should contact West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 0236S 190318 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or by visiting their website at crimestoppers-uk.org
