BREAM'S famous annual flower show could be forced into a change of format if more volunteers cannot be found to help with erecting marquees.
"Just an hour of volunteered help could provide us with a rota of helpers to ease the pressure," explained Bream Horticultural Society spokesperson Janet Dowle. The flower show is one of the oldest events in the Forest and has run continuously for over 120 years.
But Mrs Dowle said members were now very concerned for the future because of the lack of helpers.
"Setting up the large marquee and tents requires many strong people. Not to have a refreshment tent would be a great loss, but these are areas where human resources are stretched," explained Mrs Dowle.
She is asking whether individuals, perhaps a family, a group of friends or a local organisation can lend a hand.
Mrs Dowle explained that when Bream was a much smaller village the show still went on.
"Bream produced shows through two world wars and a general strike. Surely the present villagers are as able as their fore-fathers?" said Mrs Dowle.
