THIRTY five excited primary pupils stayed on at school for a fundraising sleepover with a forest theme.

An evening of exciting activities for the English Bicknor Primary youngsters included a campfire and a spooky torchlit graveyard walk before finally settling down for a good night’s rest in their sleeping bags in the school hall.

Headteacher Hayley Alliston said: “This was the third sleepover organised by the school council, and the children really enjoyed it.

“We started at 6pm with a campfire, where the children toasted marshmallows and bread, and sang lots of songs, including Baby Shark, which proved very popular with lots of actions.

“They also played games and tag in the dark with their torches, and were very excited about their graveyard walk next door to the school. It was a bit spooky, but they loved it.

“The Friends of English Bicknor Primary then ran a tuck shop before it was time to settle down in the main hall, where they all tucked themselves inside their sleeping bags to watch the DVD Pets before going to sleep.

“They all had a great time, with a breakfast of hot chocolate and toast next morning to finish off before their parents came to pick them up.”

Mrs Alliston thanked school governor David Barnham, and parent helpers Julia Price, Angela Healey, Ceri-Anne Lewis and school administrator Lorraine Bonser for running the sleepover, which was attended by youngsters aged six to 11.

The school hope to have raised up to £200 for outdoor learning equipment from the event.
