I AM very sorry but I had to laugh about the wind turbines spoiling the view and landscape for future generations.
Let's consider a few things. The UK is only 60 per cent self sufficient and food prices have risen by 23 per cent in the last 18 months. They are expected to rise between 70 and 90 per cent by 2030.
The WHO reports that over three billion are mal-nourished and per capita grain availability has been declining since the 80s.
They will have to worry about our waste. The landfills will all be full by 2018 so they will have to pay another country to take it. They will have to worry about the drained aquafills and the now inevitable global warming.
The majority will have to worry about being poor. Not since Victorian times has the rich/poor gap been so wide. Getting work will be a concern. The resources are just not there to be exploited as they were just 20 or 30 years ago.
Computers were supposed to stop paper usage. They did the opposite. From 50 million tonnes in 1950 to 250 million tonnes per year today.
I hope that our debt levels will not go the same way. Of course they will have to worry about the debt we have made them too.
All of these problems are the result of a finite planet not being able to cope with the infinite growth we have all come to expect. We add, 8,900 people to our numbers every hour yet the planet only has the same amount to go around.
The UK will grow by 10 million in the next 22 years. We have signed to reduce our emissions considerably and as fossil fuel runs out and the cost goes up future generations will have to worry about things like heating and food.?The view won't matter.
We actually need 27,000 more wind turbines in the next 20 years just to stand still on emissions.
We are heading the way of leaving our children and grandchildren a planet greatly diminished in resources, beauty and social benefits. We are way past the "not in my back yard" mentality. If one or even a few wind turbines is all you have to worry about you really should get out of your bubble because future generations will have a lot more concerns than a view.
