LABELS Outlet Shopping store in Ross on Wye have been working closely with their neighbours, the Marine Conservation Society (MCS), in establishing a 'fully sustainable' menu at Labels' in-store Seafood Bar.
The initiative has come about through close contact between Labels and the MCS, and culminated in a fund-raising event for World Ocean's Day: the Big Blue Day, which raised £160.
Katherine Stephenson of the MCS commented: "The fact that Labels Outlet Shopping has a wonderful Seafood Bar prompted a strengthening of our relationship given the close proximity of our organisations in Ross on Wye, and our shared commitment to sustainable seafood.
"Both Labels and MCS fully intent to develop the Seafood Bar to become a 'showcase for sustainability' which we can share with the wide variety of visitors that MCS receivers at its head office in Ross. We are already making good progress, with the MCS team currently in the midst of analysing data provided by Labels' seafood suppliers, which will enable us to work together to bring the sustainable showcase to fruition."
Labels' Managing Director Rachel Addison said: "The more that our team heard about the Marine Conservation Society's work, the more we wanted to support the charity's conservation efforts.
"It was absolutely perfect for Labels' colleagues to support the MCS by holding the Big Blue Day, in addition to hosting a fund-raising event on World Ocean's Day. One member of our team, Carolyn Willis, dressed up for the day in a giant lobster suit, raising £80 in sponsorship for her efforts. In all, £160 was generated on the day."
