GETHYN J Davies wants us 'to shut up and pay up'  and, what a surprise, he is one of the  councillors who voted for the car parking in Coleford.

He is the one who probably sat in the office looking out of his window and thought let's put 'pay and display' in the car parks – just look at how many cars are parked there, look at the money we could have.

If the council had not wasted taxpayers money on knocking down a perfectly good community centre to build another one they would have saved thousands.

If they had not knocked down a perfectly good library they would have saved thousands.

He also points out that Monmouth charge more for parking than Coleford. I do not begrudge paying to park in Monmouth because it has more to offer than Coleford. I am not paying 20p or any other amount to look around charity shops. I would rather travel to Gloucester or Monmouth and pay their parking fees.

It's the shops in Coleford I feel sorry for. Most will probably close.
