MOTORISTS are advised to take extra care travelling home this evening after a tree came down between Speech House and the Dilke Hospital.
Traffic heading to and from Coleford and Cinderford was diverted this morning.
Continued showery spells have - in places - caused some localised flooding and driving conditions have been treacherous, especially on high speed roads.
The county council is keeping a close eye on conditions, monitoring Environment Agency flood alerts and Gloucestershire river levels over the coming days.
Highways crews are on standby across the county to deal with incidents as they arise.
Gully emptying and unblocking crews are also on standby.
No roads are currently closed due to the weather, but standing water can be found on many parts of the highway with heavy rain reducing visibility.
Drivers are being warned to slow down and drive according to the conditions.
Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways said, “Take it steady during rush hour today, reduce your speed, avoid heavy braking, slow down when approaching standing water and turn and manoeuvre gently. I’m glad it looks like some drier weather is on the way for the weekend.”
The county may also see some thunder and lightening this afternoon.
