“A LOT of hard work by a few people” led to a very successful village fête for Soudley on Saturday, according to village hall treasurer Chris Hawkins.

“We were lucky with the weather and there was a great village atmosphere. We had more than 300 people coming along from Soudley, Ruspidge and Blakeney, as well as holiday makers.

“We made £1,700 for the hall, which was £300 up on last year and we’d like to thank the Ukes uv Azzard for doing what they do and Soudley School for singing and dancing. We’d also like to thank local businesses for their support.

“The whole event was organised by the village hall committee and a few helpers and everyone pulled together strongly, but we’d like to appeal for more volunteers – we’re desperate for assistance.

“We have a flower show coming up in August and hold produce markets in the village hall on the third Saturday of each month.”
