RESIDENTS in a Parkend neighbourhood are disgusted bags of rubbish that have been left uncollected outside an unoccupied house for the last month by Two Rivers Housing.
There are fears in Fancy Road that the black bin liners of food, nappies and general house waste could become a serious environmental health problem if left any longer.
A resident, who did not wish to be named, told the Review: “We live quite close to the affected house and sheep are now coming into the garden and splitting the bags open.
“The occupants of the house have been temporarily rehomed by Two Rivers Housing while they carry work out at the property. That was five weeks ago. Workmen haven’t attended to carry out work nor cleared the rubbish. It is a major concern as the warm weather adds to the problem.
“I’ve contacted Two Rivers and had no joy getting the problem solved and when I spoke to the Forest Council they said they would also get in touch with the housing association. We just want it cleared, it’s not only unpleasant to look at but the smell is horrendous.”
Head of housing, Rachel Smith said: “We are aware of the issue and are liaising with the tenant in relation to the urgent removal of their items. If the items are not removed within the next 24 hours we will assume responsibility and dispose of them appropriately.”
