A GIANT sign popping the question appeared in a field in Hewelsfield – and the Review exclusively reveal the identity of the romantic groom and bride.

Leo Greaves of Chepstow took girlfriend Fran Maclean on a surprise helicopter flight from Staverton Airport near Gloucester so she would see his heartfelt plea.

The story broke last week after a paramedic with the Great Western Air Ambulance Service helicopter spotted the lettering on the field from the aircraft and posted photographs of it on the social media site Twitter.

A close friend of the couple told the Review Leo placed the massive proposal on the field with help from a friend Robbie Symonds.

He then took long-term girlfriend Fran on a pleasure flight in a helicopter where she spotted the huge letters in the field.

The words vanished from the field at the beginning of this week – but not before a host of drones had been flown over it to film the event.

“Anyone know the outcome?” tweeted James Yates from the Great Western Air Ambulance Service who was in the helicopter as it flew at 1,000 feet over Hewelsfield, while they were returning to their base in Filton, Bristol, after responding to a call in Gloucester.

He later described the event online as a “unique proposal.”

His colleague ,John Wood added: “They’re big letters – very easily seen and made out of some kind of sheets.

“We were quite amused and haven’t seen anything like that before.

“It made me wonder about the story behind it. Who put it there, for whom, and has it been seen?”

As news of the proposal broke, the air ambulance crews Facebook page became a viral storm, as people logged in to view the mysterious marriage plea.

The Review understands Fran has accepted the proposal and the couple are now planning their big day.
