A TINY Bichon Frise pup's owner was mystified when her pet collapsed, and she rushed her to the vet where a battle ensued to save Brie's life.
The vets at Sundean clinic in Lydney were baffled too until they discovered Brie's guilty secret – she'd been on a home-made wine binge!
"It seems her owner, Melissa Claudius, of Lydney, had been making home made wine from fruit. When we opened the tiny animal's stomach we found a huge amount of fermenting fruit inside it," said clinic owner Theresa Horsepool.
"We have never seen anything like it before – she had acute alcoholic poisoning. It was touch and go whether she would survive.
"We were glad to save her and tickled when we discovered what she had been up to – a real alco-pup, you might say!"
The three and a half month pup will soon be back with her owner, who is delighted the vets found a cause for the mystery.
