TWO police horses and the police helicopter were the star attractions at the annual community fun day which was held in Bathurst Park, Lydney last week.
The event, organised by the Lydney local police team, brings together fun activities for children and information from a range of organisations.
Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Dan Wilce said: “It’s been a very successful day with 24 voluntary and other groups.”
Among the groups meeting the public were the Severn Area Rescue Association, Two Rivers Housing, Rollercoaster, a newly-formed mental health support group in Coleford, Lydney Town Council and the National Health Service.
Dozens of people flocked to meet Boris and Huntsman who took the attention – and the arrival of the helicopter – in their stride.
PCSO Wilce: “Speaking to people, it has been very good for them.
“This is the second year we’ve run the event and we will looking to do it again next year.”
PCSO Tom Oliver added: “It’s been very good as an engagement tool for the community.
“We had the external agencies that people may need all in one place as well as the emergency services.”
The event was organised by PCSOs Wilce and Oliver, Natalie Lang and Georgianna Jayne.
