WITH regard to the recent article concerning abuse given to members of the Watts family while delivering the Review paper in Blakeney, I note that as a result, they will no longer continue with this service.
They have delivered my copy of the Review over the years, in all weather conditions and I wish to express my thanks to them for this service, thanks which I am sure will be shared with other residents on their rounds.
As to those responsible for the abuse I myself became the victim of the local gang culture a few months ago when I had occasion to remonstrate with them for riding a cycle across the path of my car causing me to make an emergency stop. The outcome of this was the fact that he gathered together other members with cycles to follow me to my home where, to put it in the words of one of them: "There he is, let's sort him out."
I was the one who did the sorting.
These lads are all of school age in their early teens, what are they hoping to achieve by intimidating older people?
Perhaps their parents are unaware of the activities of their youngers? I trust that they will read this letter to their cycle riding sons and act upon it. – Brian Johns, Blakeney.
