SIXTH former Christian Andrews got some top tips on playing the Phantom of the Opera from a singer who has played the role in the West End and across the world.

Peter Karrie dropped into rehearsals at Chepstow School which is putting on the Andrew Lloyd Webber smash in February.

Peter, who was twice voted favourite Phantom by fans, gave advice on the songs and how the Phantom should appear on stage.

Christian said: "It was a great feeling and to get help from someone like Peter is priceless."

Peter worked with Christian and Tiri Budd, who plays Christine, on Music of the Night, one of the most popular songs in the show.

The visit came about after the head of drama, Rhidian Phillips, tweeted that the school is putting on a production of Phantom between February 18 and 20.

Mr Phillips added: "He then contacted us last Thursday to come and meet our students with the aim of performing with him in his concert at the Bridges Community Centre (in Monmouth) on November 1.

"The privilege to practise and perform with performers such as Peter Karrie isn't something which comes around often and the students cherished every minute."
