I have noticed a letter in last week's Review, and another one the previous week, that give the impression that Forest of Dean district councillors receive a remuneration of £10,000 per annum. The actual figure is £4,250.

At the last full council meeting the Independent Remuneration Panel recommended that we took a modest increase. However for the third year in a row the councillors unanimously agreed to take no increase.

Anyone who wishes to keep up with the details of the allowance, and which councillors receive a special responsibility allowance, along with any expenses claimed can look this up on the council website at any time. The information is also published in the press each year.
