CONFUSION surrounding the times when a stretch of the A48 will be closed for resurfacing has been confirmed by Amey.
The contractors will be doing the work, between Woolaston and Stroat, from 7am to 5pm (while maintaining access to emergency services) until May 6.
The work, which started today, confused motorists who were unaware when the work would actually be taking place causing them to travel along the B4228 between Chepstow and St Briavels.
The Review has asked Amey why there was a lack of notification of the proposed work and is awaiting a response.
There are also reports of misleading signs saying the roads ahead at Elton Corner and on Lydney by-pass are closed. Motorists are advised to ignore these.
Meanwhile five days of resurfacing works in Dean Road, between Littledean Hall junction and Newnham, started this morning.
