YORKLEY celebrates the centenary of its "tin hut" Institute on Sunday (July 3) with the opening event of the 2011 Forest Festival of Words.

A packed programme of words and music includes historian Averil Kear talking on the origins and first years of the Institute, dialect verse from Will Harvey on disc and Maggie Clutterbuck in person.

Another offering is Lost Yorkley, a psycho-geographical tour of an invisible history from local writer David Adams, plus music from Dr Bob, a wartime pop star, and local singer-songwriters.

It all takes place at 7pm at The Bailey Inn – tickets on the door.
