A FOREST primary school has made it into the top 10 per cent of primary schools nationally for progress in English.
All of the Year Six pupils at St Peter's Church of England Primary in Newnham, who took their Key Stage 2 SATS earlier this year, had met or exceeded predicted progress in English.
The school saw some of the best academic results on record with 95 per cent of its pupils achieving at least a Level Four in reading, writing and maths compared to the national average in these subjects ranging between 83 and 86 per cent.
The best achievement came in the reading where 58 per cent of pupils achieved a Level Five and 11 per cent gained a Level Six despite the national average being zero.
The results for maths were particularly strong as almost half attained a Level Five and 11 per cent achieved a Level Six against a national average of six per cent. Pupils also exceeded the national average in writing by two per cent as 32 per cent attained a Level Five.
Acting head teacher Karla Broady said: "The staff, children, parents, governors and local community of Newnham St Peter's work together to ensure that everyone achieves to their full potential. It is a team effort. We are incredibly proud of our friendly and successful school and very happy with our 2013 results.
