YOUNG Coleford rower Megan Jephcote will be carrying the Olympic torch in Painswick on May 23 in spite of being "really nervous running in front of so many people".
Megan, 13, started rowing at the age of ten and trains three to four times a week on the River Wye for her school, Monmouth Comprehensive.
She has previously rowed for Ross Junior Academy and Gloucester Rowing Club.
In the last three years Megan has won over 55 medals and trophies on the water well as at indoor rowing championships across the UK and Europe.
Megan has been using her indoor rowing success to promote healthy living and raise money for charity. Recently she returned to her primary school for a Healthy Living Week, giving a demonstration in which Year six pupils took part.
