I HAVE noted the comments of Mr Gardener and do not wish to carry this correspondence on as we will never agree.
But I must pose the questions in response to his 'lets blame the bowls club' campaign
Who set the rent for the club? I doubt the club had that luxury to offer £75 a year. So it is unfair to blame them for that. It is more likely bad management by the trustees.
The best deal for the charity and the people of Coleford who are supposed to benefit from the park would be to charge the bowls club a higher but reasonable rent, which would give the trust a more secure measurable income than a cafe venture that in the present climate would be risky to say the least.
Perhaps it doesn't matter if it fails, it will have served its purpose. It seems to me that the bowls club has to go because the trustees want total control over traffic and people using the gates, not get the best for local people.
