THE Coleford branch of the Royal Brtitish Legion will open its Poppy Shop from Saturday November 5 until Saturday November 12.

The shop is in Lawnstone House (near the old Tourist Information Centre, Coleford) and will open between 9am and 3pm.

Anyone with bric-a-brac for the Poppy Shop is asked to bring it to the shop on Wednesday November 2 between 10am and noon anf from 5pm-7pm.

Cemetery Sunday is on November 6 at 10.35am at the Clock Tower.

Wreaths will be laid both at the Clock Tower and then afterwards at Coleford Cemetery in memory of all those local people who laid down their lives for their country.

As a result of many requests a film about local Second World War veteran Ted Smith, aged 93, and his story of his life and war exploits will be shown again in Coleford Cinema on Thursday, November 10 at 10.30am – all welcome.

There will be a Remembrance Service at the Clock Tower on Friday November 11 at 10.45am.

Children from St John's will sing a medley of songs then a short service of rememberance followed by two minutes silence at 11am.

Tea and biscuits will be served afterwards in the Town Council Offices – all welcome.

On Remembrance Sunday, November 13, The parade will leave Coleford Police Station at 10.35am and march to St. John's Church. The service will start at 11am.

The parade will march back to Coleford and dismiss in the Forestry Commission car park. Tea and biscuits will be served afterwards in the Town Council Offices – all welcome.

The general public are invited to donate money for crosses, available in various shops in Coleford and from the Poppy Shop, which they can lay in the garden in memory anyone who served.
