ROSS traders are planning a series of new markets for the town as well as more special events to enhance its appeal.
Association of Ross Traders chairman David MacGregor told a meeting last week: "I think Ross as a traditional market town is crying out for some new ideas in the markets it holds.
"If a diverse and frequently changing range of markets were held here the public interest would be greatly increased, which would have a knock on effect in attracting more people to the Town Centre regularly.
"It's high time we gave Ross shoppers something different, exciting and new. We would also welcome public input into the kind of markets they would like to see happen in Ross, and we will work with market operators to see if they, or the association, can achieve what people want."
The traders' group also discussed the possibility of creating a special May Ross Fair, and an August Ross Fair. If successful, these would be held annually and involve road closures, street entertainers, music, dance, food and a variety of exciting events "to entice people from far afield to make Ross the only place to be on those days, with local traders all participating in selling food and their wares from the street as well as from their premises, creating a fantastic all-day community event".
