A TOWN’S popular market is finally back this weekend after a year of lockdown and restrictions.

Caldicot will be hosting its annual May Day Market in the town centre on Saturday (May 1), with a whole programme of future events lined up for the rest of the year.

A Caldicot Town Team spokesperson posted: “Good news! Our markets are finally coming back to Caldicot after lockdown, Yay! And we are all very excited to be back out there doing what we love.”

They added: “Finally, after a long year-and-a-bit filled with lockdowns, shop closures, and restrictions, we are pleased to be able to announce the first of this year’s Caldicot Town Team events - the ever popular May Day Market.

“The list for events and markets is dependent on rules and regulations around allowed activities, but we are tentatively planning on bringing back the popular events and markets in Caldicot throughout 2021.”

Saturday’s market will run from 9am until 3pm, and will provide people with the chance to browse stalls, meet friends and have a chat.

Future dates are: Summer Market - Saturday, June 5; Street Feast Festival - Friday, June 25; Family Fun Day/Street Feast Festival 2 - Friday, July 30; 999 Emergency Services Day - Sunday, August 15; Shop Local Market - Saturday, September 4; Harvest Market - Saturday, October 2; Winter Market - Saturday, November 6; Christmas Market - Saturday, December 4; Christmas Market 2 - Saturday, December 18.
