STUDENTS at the Royal Forest of Dean College have broken their own record this year by raising £800 for two local charities.
For the fifth year running, all language students at the college, daytime and full time, have taken part by learning lists of vocabulary and finding sponsors.
Caroline Harmer, Italian lecturer at RFDC, said. "This is a great way for our students to learn something useful for their exams and support local charities at the same time.
"Hands around the World is a particularly appropriate charity for us to support this year as we will be paying particular attention in the coming year to the global dimension of our courses, following on from the excellent work being done in local schools on
links with Kenya
and India."
Dr David Steiner from Hands around the World was presented with a cheque at the annual Italian students' barbecue.
