SUNSHINE and plenty of steam and motor power attracted enthusiasts to Coleford on Bank Holiday Monday.

Organisers of the Coleford Carnival of Transport welcomed a wealth of classic cars and steam engines including a locomotive from Perrygrove Railway and a 1933 Trotters Road Roller made in Coleford.

Chairman of the carnival, Gareph Boxley said: “The footfall was slightly down on last year which I think was due to the awful weather forecast predicted, but people did come along throughout the day.

“We had motorbike clubs from Shropshire as well as a Jaguar club from Bristol and Royal British Legion bikers who came from far away and also helped with marshaling. Some individual cars were jaw dropping including an Armstrong Siddeley.

“The day all in all was very fun although tiring.”

A traction engine in full steam provided welcomed warm air while the Ukes uv Azzard and Triangle Radio entertained people at the Clock Tower.

Gareph added: “A big thank you to everybody who came along and supported the event including those who marshaled and helped on the day.”
