TRUE Blue (Review, December 2) appears to be a little lost under the weight of data provided by economics pundits and others that have been trying to undermine Britain’s position following the June Referendum.

Britain’s growth is well above the EU average even if it has been forecast to be reduced by the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) chief and other wise men he or she so adores.

Projections from the IMF and others, while slashing UK growth forecasts after Brexit, still reckon that Britain will outstrip Germany, France and Italy.

Not that economics was the deciding factor in the minds of those voting to get out of the EU – a political concept that few in Britain understood or cared for.

True Blue would do well to reflect on the longer term objective of the EU to form a United States of Europe with a single government, central bank, currency and defence and administrative systems.

I doubt many in Britain will subscribe to True Blue’s vision however glorious it is painted in terms of the price of bacon.

Was it Oscar Wilde that talked about ‘the man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing?’

True Blue may wish to reflect on whether he or she is a patriot in the true sense and loves Britain or is simply interested in the price of the weekly shopping.

If the latter, true Blue should emigrate to Belgium or some other parts of the EU and, in time, live in the Fascist Empire True Blue so loves.

For the rest of us, we love and value Britain as she is, warts and all, and are prepared to tighten our belts a little and not expect continued economic expansion and the ballooning population from the EU and the wider world needed to support this false notion of growth.

It is also interesting to note that record numbers of Europeans are coming to live in Britain regardless of Brexit – these Europeans appear to have more faith in Britain’s future than True Blue has.

In the meantime I would condemn the doom-mongers in no uncertain terms for undermining Britain’s position in the Brexit negotiations that our PM is to embark on in the new year and also in the wider world with which we will have to establish new trading links.
