THE Royal Forest of Dean Herbert Howells Society Bursary hosted its fifth bursary and is gearing up for a concert to award the winner in May.
Talented trumpet player Samuel Pierce from Redbrook competed against four other musicians from the Forest in front of three adjudicators.
The concert in May will see him presented with the £1000 bursary and Maurice Bent trophy by Herbert Howells grandson, Joe Pelissier. He will also be joined by previous winners which the Society committee members promises to be a very high standard of music.
The concert which will be held at Coleford Baptist Church on Friday, May 10 at 7pm.
