I WRITE to publicly thank the committee of the St Briavels Wind Turbine Community Fund for their consistent support for St Briavels Primary School.
Many people will have seen the turbine standing close to the village, but most will be unaware of the significant financial support that the school has received from this project in recent months.
I have been executive headteacher at the Wye Forest Federation since September 2013, and since that time I have been astonished by the support and generosity of the committee who have funded several key projects at St Briavels School for the benefit of all pupils.
These projects have included significant grants to support our burgeoning outdoor curriculum, the development of our gardening club and facilities on-site, as well as ICT improvements and other building-related issues.
At a time when education budgets are under increasing pressure such contributions, which add up to several thousand pounds, are hugely helpful in allowing us to develop our curriculum and facilities.
