I READ with interest the letters in support of UKIP in last week's paper. For clarification, the small group of us that protested stood initially stood outside the meeting handing out literature.
We were then invited inside by Cllr. Preest. In fact Cllr. Preest's letter was of particular interest. As we were outside the meeting he offered to give us his UKIP badge saying he didn't actually agree with their policies: interesting when he then goes on to list those same policies in his letter.
Cllr Preest was extremely jovial even telling us, after Cllr Leppington's aggressive comments to us, that he was "sick of bailing Leppington out."
I was grateful for Cllr Davies' support, not because I agree with his policies necessarily, but because he gave a reasoned account of the meeting. Cllr Davies appeared to be displaying an open mind. He asked about UKIP's energy policies, receiving an unsatisfactory answer and about their involvement with the Masons, receiving no answer at all.
Do please continue to organise meetings UKIP as you have every constitutional right to do so. Many people like us will exercise our right to attend them and keep on asking questions.
