ROM the sublime, Malcolm Charnock's excellent letter to the ridiculous, Gethyn J Davies's (GJD) utter diatribe were for me features in the letters page (Review Feb 7).

Quite why the Tidenham ward councillor (GJD) (poor people) has now decided to jump on a bandwagon that refers to a meeting that took place over two months ago only he can answer.

Perhaps he may also like to define his comment "misleading rubbish from the UKIP speakers?"

As one of the speakers who spoke on local UKIP activities I await, intrigued, as I think it's fair to say I tend not to mislead in my elected role.

For whatever reason there are those who are rather more worried about UKIP than we are about them.

For clarification our core pledges are as follows and are not designed in any way to mislead ;

•Guarantee an honest and fair referendum on leaving the EU.

•Return control of British government to the British people.

•Make sure that we are governed by laws made in the UK by   our own MPs and not by those cooked up in Brussels by unelected foreign bureaucrats.

•Leave the European Court of Human Rights.

•Stop the flood of economic migrants from all over Europe who are overwhelming our services and infrastructure.

•Make sure that the NHS is only for those who have a legitimate right to its care and is no longer free for health tourists from all over Europe who have no connection with this country.

The other parties talk around problems like these. UKIP will act.

Notwithstanding the above, UKIP Forest of Dean will continue to represent you and tackle local issues that matter.

Unlike other parties we will continue to hold regular meetings throughout the Forest of Dean.

– Cllr Alan Preest, UKIP Group Leader Gloucestershire County Council.
