WITH reference to my uncle Stan Miles' motorcycle featured in last week's Review. The picture brought back many happy memories for me.
The bike was a Quadrant 3 and a half horse power side valve. It was belt driven.
Uncle 5often strapped a cushion on the carrier for me to ride pillion. I was about 12 years old at that time.
One Sunday dad and uncle Stan went to visit Grandad's younger brother, uncle Harry, in South Ealing. The bike never let them down.
J H Watts of Lydney also had an ironmongers in Bream where the chemist shop is now. I remember they had two petrol pumps. One was Shell, one shilling and half a pence a gallon, and the other was ROP (Russian Oil Products) 10 pence per gallon.
Happy days! – Hylton Miles, Hanover Court, Bilson Close, Valley Road, Cinderford.
