POLICE are probing a spate of van and car break-ins in the Wyedean area.

There were three van break-ins overnight on Sunday to Monday (November 26 to 27) in Whitecroft and Tutshill where high value tools, including power tools, were stolen from parked vehicles.

A barrel lock was removed from the rear door of a Peugeot van in Whitecroft between 4pm and 8.30am and Makita and Dewalt branded power tools stolen from inside.

In the same area, tools were also taken from a Citroen van between 4pm and 6.30am, with the offenders probably breaking in through the sliding side door. Police later recovered the tools in the local area.

A van in Tutshill was also targeted between 8pm on Sunday and 6.50am on Monday, probably by forcing the handle of the door open, before a Makita radio, tool kit and Dewalt Drill were stolen.

Gloucestershire Police PCSO Thomas Oliver said that while some of the tools had been recovered, vehicle owners needed to be "extra vigilant".

West Mercia Police are also probing two car break-ins and a theft from a property in Ross-on-Wye last week.

The incidents, which included a car break-in at the Ross Community Hospital car park, happened between Wednesday evening and Saturday (November 22 to 25).

Intruders entered a car port and garden at a property in New Street between 10pm on Wednesday and 8am next morning and stole various items.

Between 10.50pm on Thursday and 7.50am next morning, a vehicle was broken into in the hospital car park in Alton Street and cash stolen from the glove box.

Overnight on Friday and Saturday, a red-coloured VW Tiguan car was also broken into in New Street and a pair of ladies' Ray Ban sunglasses with black circular lenses stolen.

Anyone with information about the Whitecroft thefts should call Gloucestershire Police on 101 quoting incident number 106 of 27/11, and 63 of 27/11 for the Tutshill raid.

Anyone with information about the Ross-on-Wye thefts should contact West Mercia Police on 101, quoting 0144S 231117 (car port theft), 0094S 241117 (hospital car break-in) or 0154S 241117 (New Street car break in).
