IN response to the letter dated January 25, 2001 from a certain Mr B. Jones, Cinderford.
One must wonder why is so much venom directed at a hard-working, committed member of the local community in Cinderford, as a mother, parent and member of an extended family within the Forest of Dean and, yes, our own town clerk, Mrs Lynda Thomas?
You could say that I was more than a little disappointed to read Mr Jones' comments which had three references to 'she.' There was an implication that all decisions regarding these matters were made on the individual basis by Mrs Thomas without any decision or referral to other local council members.
Any community will have its various problems and disagreements from local level up to the House of Commons. To try and foster some sort of indignation against Mrs Thomas as the town clerk and to bring in other matters related to the police would hint at rather more than just an over-reaction.
Whilst there has always and will be the need to ask questions concerning the local community, I would be very wary of attempting to throw the baby out with the bath water. In conclusion I would say that you don't know what you've got until it's gone.
Thanking you for an interesting debate and I hope we have some nice lights for next Christmas. – Concerned Cinderford resident.
