A BOOK of stories relating to the Forest and particularly Lydney was published last week to raise funds for the town's hospital.

Author Vicky Harper signed copies of 'Lydney Memories' at the launch which was held in the town's library. The book contains original stories written by her mother, the late Barbara Steele, many of which were originally printed in the Review.

Dedicated to the memory of the late Mr Melville Watts, the proceeds of the sale of the book will go to The Friends of Lydney Hospital.

The library event was organised by Mrs Christine Martyn, well known member of the Forest of Dean Local History Society. Among those who attended were Lydney mayor Bill Osborne and his wife Susan, Anthony Midgley, chair of the Friends of Lydney Hospital, and members of the Watts family.
