WITH reference to the letter that dropped through our letter boxes recently, regarding the new village hall project, I would like to reach the parishioners who perhaps don't get into the village as often as they would like, or perhaps don't participate as much in village life.
Do they know that this project is the conception of a small group of people, and as far as I am aware it is nothing to do with the parish council, who are not involved with this project at all.
This syndicate also proposes to sell off the W.I. Hut, whose ownership is debatable, also the Armoury Hall, which has served us very well as a village hall in the past and it actually belongs to all the people of Newnham, and can't be sold without their express consent.
Please please parishioner, think long and carefully before voting for this project. Is it really for the good of the village or just the for just the few.
Another thought is that the club belongs to all the members hundreds of them in fact. Are this group of outsiders going to contact each and every members to get their votes because they certainly should.
All other suggestions of where a new village hall could be positioned have been dismissed by the syndicate. because it doesn't fall in with their plans.
– A worried and concerned born and bred parishioner.
