CONTROVERSIAL sheep commoner Jeremy Awdry of Bream is angry after his wife was arrested in the village and held in Gloucester for several hours.
"It seems to me it is all getting very personal. As far as I can see my wife was arrested for just looking at somebody a few doors from the sweet shop," he said.
"Nothing at all happened but they took her to Gloucester and questioned her for hours. It was 4am when she finally got back home.
"She said they were talking about her making menaces but if you know my wife this is not likely – she is only 4ft 10in and weighs about 7 stone."
He said they had been delivering milk in the village now for more than 30 years and were well known and liked in the area but a few people had a grudge against his family.
Mr Awdry said his wife who has diabetes was "very shaken" by the experience.
The farmer and milk round proprietor has received an ASBO concerning wandering sheep in Bream but insists he has "never done wrong" and is upset his wife has been dragged into the controversy.
A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said: "I can confirm that a 58-year-old Bream woman was arrested on May 13 on suspicion of committing a public order offence and harassment.
"She was arrested at 8.10pm, taken to Gloucester Police Station for questioning and released at 1.30 the following morning on police bail. She has been bailed until June 30 pending further enquiries."
