A VILLAGE’s only throughroad has been shut for 10 days for roadworks.

The road through Newland is closed for drainage works, although highway authorities say they will try to reopen it at night.

The roadworks are taking place near the All Saints ‘Cathedral in the Forest’ and the Ostrich Inn.

Drivers wanting to reach the other side of the village will have to use the single track road between Scowles Road and the junction between Clearwell and Newland, or go via Coleford.

The roadworks were set to start on Monday (September 9) and continue to Friday, September 20.

There could also be delays in Chepstow for six weeks, with the town’s Bridge Street due to shut from Monday, September 16, until Friday, November 1, for essential gas work.
