THE FUNERAL of Jack Davis - known around the world as Parvadean Jack - took place today at a packed St Ethelbert’s Church in Littledean.

Mr Davis, who was 84, was well-known in the village as a grocer and was the first businessman in the Forest to get a contract with the Lyons Maid ice cream company.

But it was in the equine world that he was best known with an unsurpassed reputation as a breeder of Cob-type ponies.

He established the Parvadean stud in Littledean and his work is being continued by his sons.
