AGE Concern Forest of Dean and Age Concern Gwent are both looking for local volunteers to support new ventures.

Age Concern Forest of Dean is starting a new shop at its premises at Goscox Court, Hill Street, Lydney.

It is hoped to open this week (July 12), replacing the office which had to close at the end of June due to lack of funding.

General manager Alan Gore says: "By converting our premises from an office into a shop we will be maintaining a presence in Lydney and be able to offer low level support to and signposting of older people to the services available to them while at the same time raising money to support our valued meals and befriending services."

The proposed hours of opening are 10am to 3pm Tuesday–Friday and 10am to 1pm on Saturdays. If you are interested leave a message on 01594 845621 or email [email protected]">[email protected]

Age Concern Gwent are looking for volunteers aged 18+ to take part in a new initiative volunteering with older people in the Chepstow area.

Volunteers are needed to help engage others in light gardening tasks, activities and befriending at a local care home in Chepstow.

"If you have a few hours to spare and are enthusiastic, understand the needs of older people and able to work as part of a team we would love to hear from you," they say.
