MEMBERS of the Forest Allotment Association say they have made great progress on two new allotment sites – and have room for just four more members for a 'full house'.
"It's hard to believe a matter or weeks ago these sites were just rough grass, brambles and bracken, where now there are potatoes, beans and cabbages which will soon be feeding local households and families," said a spokesman.
"We only opened our gates at the end of February, and since then the potholders have had to work incredibly hard, not only clearing their own plots and growing in the driest spring any of us can remember.
"But they also had to help clear the sites, cutting back overhanging branches, uprooting brambles, and all sorts – you name it!"
The Association has just four vacant plots left at the larger site, in Whitecroft. Anyone who is interested should send an email to mail@fodaa .or.uk
