I WOULD like to reply to the recent letter headed 'Green Blues.' I was surprised to read that "name and address supplied" is less than happy with the green waste kerbside collections. We had a bit of a problem at first when we weren't given a green bin. It took a few weeks for it to be delivered but once the bin arrived we were home and dry. It was filled immediately and we wished we had another one. Then lo and behold we saw the ad in our Review that if we went to Lydney Industrial Estate we could collect a second bin – no charge was mentioned at all – and when we got there the very pleasant people people in charge said would we like an extra one. We brought them home, filled them immediately as we also have a large garden and it was hedge cutting time, all three were emptied yesterday right on time an one is filled again already. We have several of the compost bins supplied through the council but also used to have to drive regularly to the skips to deposit garden waste so it is marvellous to have it collected so efficiently.

We were told right from the beginning that only waste in the bins would be collected so if we have any excess we keep it in bags or wheelbarrows until the next collection empties our bins. You can't ask the crew to take bags. Imagine having to lift and empty several plastic bags from each door, because if one person got away with it everyone else would expect the same.

Yes, our council tax is dreadful and it's not often I compliment the Forest of Dean District Council but in this case I take my hat off to them. The bins are great – when can we start the next phase please, perhaps tins and plastics? – D. Gray, Hendrick Drive, Sedbury.
