Through your paper I would like Venk Shenoi to respond
to the following questions. If all waste were collected
weekly in one container, ie a dustbin, and then
mechanically sorted at one location would the majority of
recycling costs disappear?
If the council collected trade waste for free and took
it to the same sorting site, could they at best make a
profit on the deal or at worst make no loss?
I add to my questions the observation that all the
carbon-based materials could be burned to save fuel
costs if they could not be sold for a profit and the heat
produced could be used for communal heating.
Venk and others, start thinking of waste as an asset
not a problem. One plus for Venk though, he at least
thinking about the subject.
