WITH all the publicity surrounding the forestry sell-off, we should not forget that the Forestry Commission also has responsibility for managing what is known locally as waste.

Large areas of land comprise waste and already planning applications have been made to build on waste at Bream and Mile End.

Additionally, many properties can only be approached by crossing waste. We should be aware that if a charitable trust has to make money then options could include a toll for access across waste.

We should all be aware that there is much that could be lost here.
