WE'LL close bridge if lorries keep breaching weight limit. This story in the Review dated December 3, sure is good fun, more entertaining than Corrie any day of the week.
I read and quote Liz Kirkham, county council bridge engineer: "Some of the trucks using the bridge have weighed 38 tonnes."
Truly remarkable Liz. How and where did you weigh them?
The anomaly of the weight restriction on this particular bridge has perplexed me for a score or more years. Seemingly 16.5 tonnes makes it OK for a loaded two axle four wheeler but not OK for an empty four, five or six axle artic weighing considerably less? (with this lesser weight distributed over more axles).
Can we please see a description and qualification for this 'proper diversion route.' The mind boggles but at least we have a mind!
