HUNTLEY is setting the pace as the most loyal village in Wyedean.
Determined to make the Queen's Golden Jubilee an occasion to celebrate and remember, the village has already set up a committee to organise three days of fun and frolics on the weekend of the 50th anniversary of the Queen's coronation this June.
Plans are already well advanced.
Saturday June 1: There will be a huge all day six-a-side soccer tournament followed by a barbecue.
Sunday June 2: A World Cup champagne breakfast will be followed by an afternoon cricket match, an evening rounders match and another giant village barbecue.
Monday June 3: The village will celebrate with a huge open air gala fete with stalls, live music and a pig roast.
All the profits from the events will go to local good causes.
Fund-raising has already started and on the weekend village youngsters had a taste of things to come with a fancy dress disco at the village hall at which they selected a Jubilee Princess - she will be Emily Bliss, aged 11.
Judges for the evening were farmer Mr Michael Gifford, aged 74, who once had the distinction of dancing with the Queen when she was Princess Elizabeth at an event in London in 1942.
He was joined by Wendy Martin, the village princess on the occasion of Huntley's Silver Jubilee celebrations, and Jo Green, who was Huntley's last village carnival queen back in 1992.
It was followed by a disco for the village teenagers and, on Saturday night, an evening of 1950s/60s nostalgia with a rock an' roll party at the hall.
