RUARDEAN will be the setting for a revenge clash this Saturday with the visit of Bream.
The teams share second spot in Division 1 of the Cheltenham and Gloucester League after Bream smashed their way to a 19 point haul against Ruardean at Bream last Saturday.
"It has all the makings of a good Forest derby," said Bream's Cyril Edwards.
"It's a pity to return match is so close on the heels of our last meeting. Ruardean will be up for this one and it should be a very competitive game," he said.
It looked as though Ruardean's decision to put Bream into bat first was an inspired one as the home team lost their first two wickets for just one run.
But Bream's recovery was guided by some inspired batting by Rupert Mitchell who hit an unbeaten 96. Excellent supporting roles were provided by Paul Edwards (32) and Chris Farr (28) and the home team's innings ended on 209 for seven.
Ruardean made a positive response and a sound opening partnership provided a solid foundation.
But Bream's accurate attack took its toll and as the scoring rate slowed so the wickets began to fall. Bream's four bowlers took two wickets each and a run-out also contributed as Ruardean's innings closed on 141 for nine.
The visitors picked up six points and will be keen to reverse the scores on their own ground on Saturday.
It promises to be a game not to be missed.
