WE love a good ol’ romantic story here at the Review and they don’t come any sweeter than somebody proposing to the love of their life through our paper.

Trudi Sara, of Chepstow, placed an advert asking her girlfriend of 12 weeks, Sandra Meredith, a very important question: Will she marry her?

She said: “I have put an advert in Review to basically say to my girlfriend ‘since the first moment, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you.

“You’ve turned my life into a fairytale and you are my ‘happy ever after’. I love you with every breath I take. Will you marry me?”

The 37-year-old said the time couldn’t be any better to pop the question as Christmas is just around the corner.

She said: “This is going to be the best Christmas ever. I have had a couple of turbulent relationships and I know that Sandra is the one I want to be with – she makes me very happy – so why should I delay the inevitable?”

Unknown to the pair their paths have crossed numerous times over the last few years.

Trudi said: “Unknown to me Sandra’s parents live opposite mine in Woolaston and I shop weekly in Lidl at Bulwark where she works.

“We have spoken in passing many times but it was 12 weeks ago that, little did I know, Sandra would take the first step to arrange meeting up for a drink. As I dropped a friend off at Lidl Sandra was stood outside and it was when I drove off she asked them what my name was. She contacted me through Facebook and we struck up a very strong relationship; it was very much love at first sight.”

Trudi has three children Abi (12), Harrison (three) and her eldest Holly (16). She also has taken in Holly’s boyfriend, Harry who is aged 18.

Trudi said: “I have always been in relationships with men so to be attracted to Sandra in the way I am took me by surprise. I was in denial about how I truly felt.

“All my children have taken to her and think she is as amazing as I do. I really can’t think of anybody else I want to be with – she has given me my ‘fairytale’ ending. I chose to propose to her through the Review as I want to tell the world how much I love her.

“I’m sure she will say ‘yes’.”
